Hosted at the Central Library on the 6th floor, Doggy Days brings trained therapy dogs for students to decompress, learn about their favorite fuzzy friends, and collect individual trading cards for each of the pups. Bring your MavID and/or ID number for sign-up, and we will pair you with one of our therapy dogs for a period of 15 minutes. You are more than welcome to re-enter the queue at the end of your time slot. Whether you're new to experiential learning or looking to expand how you already use it, this workshop will introduce a range of classroom strategies—from short in-class simulations to semester-long community-engaged projects—that support student learning and skill development. You’ll also learn about key UTA resources such as the Maverick Advantage Faculty Engagement (MAFE) program and the Center for Service Learning (CSL), which offer structured support and community for faculty pursuing experiential approaches. Walk away with inspiration, practical tools, and next steps for designing impactful, real-world learning opportunities for your students.Learning Outcomes:Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:Define experiential learning and recognize its value in promoting student engagement, career readiness, and deep learning. Identify small-scale and large-scale strategies for incorporating experiential learning into their courses. Locate and access UTA-specific programs and resources (including MAFE and CSL) that support faculty in designing and implementing experiential learning. Begin to develop a plan for integrating experiential learning into a current or future course.
