The McNair Scholars Program is a competitive program funded by the U.S. Department of Education to prepare university juniors and seniors who are low-income, first generation, and/or underrepresented in graduate education for doctoral education. Dance and public performance are two elements of human society that span across all cultures and peoples of the globe. This system of cultural expression often consists of detailed choreography and elaborate costumes, uniting our communities through shared connections and ritual presentation.For Latin America, dance is interwoven throughout the tapestry of their historical traditions. Beginning with the indigenous cultures of the Aztec, Inca, Maya, and Olmec, their celebratory carnivals and festivals evolved under the influence of European and African dance traditions to incorporate not only celebrational experiences but also used for expressions of faith, mourning, and even resistance.On view for the fall 2025 semester are a series of vibrantly painted and intricately decorated masks and dance costumes from Bolivia, Guatemala, and Mexico. They represent Latin America’s wide breadth of historical dance and parade traditions, ranging from the Bailé de los Animales to the annual Carnaval.Please join us throughout the semester to celebrate these works and their expressions of beauty, creativity, and connection through dance.It will be open Monday, September 8 – Thursday, November 20; 9am – 5pm. Great Hearts is excited to host an Information Table at UTA! Great Hearts Academies is a network of 47 classical liberal arts academies across Arizona, Louisiana, & Texas. We currently provide over 30,000 students with access to a quality, classical education. We gladly prepare students for academic success, but our main purpose is the formation of the soul, heart, and mind. We hire from all majors, and teaching certifications are not required for roles in general education. We offer a path to certification for anyone interested in pursuing their teaching certificate.

The Gallery at UTA is pleased to present its 20th “Faculty Biennial,” a showcase for recent work created by faculty from the University of Texas at Arlington Department of Art and Art History. Scheduled every two years, this exhibition presents a sampling of what the art and design professors accomplish in their creative and scholarly endeavors outside the classroom. The 2025 exhibition, which runs October 20 through November 15, features 31 faculty members working in a wide variety of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, glass, printmaking, cinematic arts, and design. In addition, the department's art historians and art educators will have examples of recent publications on display."As we near the 40th anniversary of this gallery of contemporary art, it is wonderful to see the range of work our faculty are engaged in making and how it serves as an exemplar of what The Gallery at UTA is all about. We are focused on bringing innovative art and design to our public community and our faculty's creative work does just that, time and again. We look forward to welcoming you to this exhibition and having you join us celebrating this milestone," says gallery director and Art & Art History Department Chair August Davis.

The Major Exploration Center is organizing the Major and Minor Fair on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. in the Palo Duro Lounge of the University Center, to help students explore academic fields, connect with faculty and advisors, and learn about the majors, minors, and certificates offered across campus.

Andrew Sanders, a student at UTA, will take the stage to share their passion for music with the audience. This recital promises a delightful experience of beautiful melodies and impressive musical talent.This performance is free and open to the public. It takes place in Irons Recital Hall, FA105, located in the South Section of the Fine Arts Building.The doors will open approximately 30 minutes before the performance time.Please be aware that no food or drink, aside from bottled water, is allowed in the recital hall.Parking is available in the West Campus Garage, and ADA parking is available at the meters on Nedderman Drive in front of Texas Hall.
