- All day“Hear ye! Hear ye!” A Special Collections Mini-ExhibitFrom handwritten letters to email, we are continuously searching for new ways to share our ideas, needs, and life updates. UTA Special Collections will have a mini-exhibit on display showcasing items in the collection relating to communication through the ages. Special Collections invites the UTA community to learn more and view the mini-exhibit during the Central Library's open hours, September 4-30. The mini-exhibit is located just outside the doors of Special Collections in the Atrium, located on the sixth floor of the Central Library.

- 12:00 PM5hThe Gallery at UTA Art Exhibition: The Gullah JourneyCurated by Jorge Baldor, historian, art collector, and founder of the Latino Arts Project, this densely layered exhibition centers on the centuries-long journey of the Gullah-Muscogo people and their culture - from West Africa to the eventual founding of the town of Nacimiento de los Negros, Mexico.Part art exhibition, part archival display, Baldor has paired artists working in diverse media with historical documents, maps and artifacts to tell "a story of resilience, culture and freedom."The exhibition also includes a selection of oil pastel on paper sketches by renowned contemporary artist Sedrick Huckaby who visited Mexico over a four-month period in 2023 to work on this portrait series of the present-day people of Nacimiento that depicts a community deeply connected to their history.
