Maverick Hall, The University of Texas at Arlington’s newest and largest residence hall, was officially unveiled in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday.

With 654 beds, the 206,000-square-foot, five-story building is meeting the demand for on-campus housing. This year, more than 4,700 students live in one of UTA’s five residence halls and seven apartment communities, with more than 10,000 total living on or adjacent to campus.

“The real story of Maverick Hall is not its architecture or its amenities, it’s in the students who call this home,” UTA President Jennifer Cowley said. “The demand to live on campus has never been higher, and we have rolled out the welcome mat for more students to live here at UTA and build strong connections from day one.”

John Zerwas, chancellor of The University of Texas System, and his leadership team joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of a broader daylong visit to campus. He said it’s an exciting time to be at UTA.

“During our visit today, we want to learn all that we can so that the UT System can support UTA and give you all the resources necessary to create a better UTA community and enhance all of your student success,” Dr. Zerwas said. “Spaces like Maverick Hall are exceptionally created environments where students learn and thrive, so President Cowley, congratulations on yet another significant move forward to make UTA a destination institution for students, faculty and staff.”

Student Body President Effua Jordan said Maverick Hall represents more than just a new place for students to live; it represents UTA’s commitment to creating a vibrant campus community where students can learn, connect and grow.

“For students who will live here, Maverick Hall will be more than just a place to sleep and study, it will become a home—a place where friendships are formed, where ideas come to life and where memories are made,” Jordan said. “To my student body, this is for you. This is your space, your community and your opportunity to create the experiences that will shape your time here at UTA.”

Maverick Hall has a mix of single and double occupancy rooms and features contemporary amenities, including versatile learning spaces, dynamic student engagement areas, innovative technology, centralized gathering spots and open kitchens on each floor to encourage connections among students.

In response to a notable rise in freshman enrollment and a growing demand for on-campus housing, this initiative aligns with UTA's dedication to offering state-of-the-art accommodations and ensuring an unmatched living and learning experience for its more than 41,000 students.

Maverick Hall is the University’s latest student-focused investment on the west side of campus. In early 2025 UTA opened the new Greek Life Center and added West Hall and The Commons in 2018.
