The race is on: UTA’s annual Bed Races kicks off at 7:30 p.m. March 26 at Maverick Stadium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., followed by captains meetings at 7:15 p.m.
Starting in 1980 to commemorate Maverick Stadium’s opening, Bed Races is the university’s longest running tradition. In honor of UTA’s 130th anniversary, the event’s theme will be superheroes.
In collaboration with EXCEL Campus Activities, Campus Recreation hosts Bed Races for a one-night event where teams of five push a wheeled bed across 40 yards, each competing for the fastest time.
The top times achieved in the men’s, women’s and co-ed divisions will participate in a final race to determine an overall winner in each division.
Early registration ends Sunday and costs $40 per team. Late registration runs from March 17 to 25 and costs $50 per team. Students can register on the Campus Recreation website. General admission is free and open to the community.
