City of Arlington activates emergency weather plan, where to seek shelter

The City of Arlington has activated its Emergency Weather Shelter plan until Saturday in response to freezing temperatures. The Arlington Life Shelter and The Salvation Army are offering shelters for homeless individuals, and city facilities are available for those seeking relief from the cold. The Homeless Emergency Cold Weather Shelter plan is triggered when temperatures drop to 39 degrees or lower for at least four consecutive hours overnight. Individuals seeking shelter for pets can drop them off at Arlington Animal Services shelter. The shelter is subject to capacity. To stay updated on inclement weather shelters, residents can text “ARLCOLD” to 877-799-4950 to receive alerts. The Salvation Army is offering shelter for unhoused individuals during the City of Arlington’s  Emergency Weather Shelter plan. Intake for those seeking shelter begins 7 p.m. and goes through 10 p.m.
