Maverick Dining served up a new on-campus dining option Monday with the opening of Tre’s Bar-B-Q, featuring a homemade Texas barbecue menu crafted by executive sous chef Austin “Tre” Banks.
Originally launched as a pop-up location in May 2021, Tre’s Bar-B-Q moved into the University Center this spring, replacing Tex-Mex restaurant Cabo Grill. Cabo Grill took the place of Latin cuisine restaurant Rusty Taco, according to previous Shorthorn reporting.
Tre’s Bar-B-Q is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. The restaurant is closed weekends.
The menu currently features smoked sandwiches, with the choice of smoked kielbasa sausage or sliced smoked turkey breast, specialties including the Jumbo Spud and the Maverick Nachos, combo platters and various sauces and sides. These items are available for a meal exchange from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 to 5 p.m. Friday.
According to the Dine On Campus website, Tre’s Bar-B-Q’s full menu is coming soon.
