Grad Panel on Navigating the Thesis, Portfolio, Comprehensive Exam, and Dissertation

Wednesday, April 16, 2025 5:00–6:00 PM
  • Location
    Carlisle Hall , 102A
  • Description
The "Grad Panel on Navigating the Thesis, Portfolio, Comprehensive Exam, and Dissertation" will take place on Wednesday, April 16, at 5 p.m. The location is set for Carlisle Hall room 102A, but depending on the number of RSVPs, it may be moved to the UTA Writing Center Studio.

The English Graduate Student Association – in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) – will have a panel of current and recent graduate students from UTA who have completed and defended the thesis and portfolio (required for the MA program), completed and passed the comprehensive exam (required for the PhD program), and are developing the dissertation (passed the prospectus; required for the PhD program). While this event will speak to the English Graduate Program, there is a lot of overlap and helpful tools/tips to be gained for graduate students in COLA, but also undergraduates who are interested in a graduate program too!

This panel of graduate students will share what each of these required stages/works are and how they’ve successfully studied, prepared, planned, composed, and passed/defended these challenging but essential stages of both the English MA and PHD programs at UTA.

RSVP to this event by emailing kcs2191@mavs.ute.edu.
