Do you like Space? Do you like Maps? How about maps of space?! UTA Special Collections is proud to present a new exhibition titled Cosmic Cartography . Featuring maps and charts dating from 1548 to 2024, the exhibit explores humanity's desire to explain our understanding of the universe through maps. In the exhibit, you will see maps that explore the model of the universe - from the ancients who believed in an Earth-centered system to Copernicus who put the Sun at the center, and beyond; maps of our Solar System and planetary bodies; and maps that explore Constellations and the Zodiac.Giveaways will be available while supplies last!The exhibit is located on the sixth floor of Central Library in Special Collections. It is open Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Live glassblowing demonstrations will take place throughout the day, offering a firsthand look at the artistry and skill behind every piece.What began in the mid-1990s as a small fundraiser on the loading dock behind the Fine Art Building has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the year. Founded by artist David Keens, this fundraiser was created to support our students, provide essential materials, and invest in equipment that keeps our glass program thriving. Today, it has become a world-class showcase featuring nearly two thousand handcrafted works—from affordable keepsakes to museum-quality collector’s pieces.Every purchase you make directly supports our students and the studio. Half of the proceeds go to the artists themselves, while the rest funds scholarships, raw materials, equipment, and ongoing improvements that ensure our program continues to flourish.
