Celebrate the grand opening of Rhythm & Relics Flea Market from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Binions Ice House, with unique vendors, live DJ beats and an energetic atmosphere for all to enjoy.
The market will run at the same time every second Saturday of the month. Upon entering, attendees will find vendors on both sides with a stage on the right featuring two regular DJs — DJ Culturegang and DJ El Macho — who play a variety of music to set the vibe.
Vendor coordinator Krystal Garcia said that after the passing of Milton Morris, Flea Harvey’s founder, she took over the market in 2021 and brought her experience as a patron and vendor coordinator.
When Natalie Ellis, a booking agent at Binions Ice House, mentioned the owners' interest in starting a regular flea market, Garcia said she jumped at the opportunity to expand beyond Flea Harvey’s and work with small business owners.
She said that while they didn’t have an animal rescue at the soft launch, she is working on finding one for the opening. However, if no rescue is available this time, The Love Pit will be there in April. She added that while each rescue might have its own process, The Love Pit uses its space at events like Flea Harvey’s to educate attendees on fostering, volunteering and donating.
Garcia said that she enjoys working with vendors and organizing events, noting that the vendors at Rhythm & Relics are laid-back and passionate about what they sell.
“In a strange way it's very inspiring to me to work with vendors and people who are small business owners, who are really serious about what they sell. They're very dedicated and passionate,” she said.
Focused on supporting the local Arlington community, Garcia said she has been in touch with Mosaic, a nearby consignment shop, to foster collaboration between vendors.
“I want it to be a space where everybody — doesn't matter how old you are, what type of music you're into, race, gender, whatever — you know, I just want it to be a gathering spot for everybody, and everybody finds something that they like and they're interested in,” she said.
