UT Arlington tennis, basketball, softball and more to compete this week

With baseball officially kicked off, all spring sports are in swing. A men’s basketball game headlines this week’s slate of UTA athletics. Here is the schedule for Tuesday through Feb. 24. Men’s basketball The men’s basketball team looks to rebound after their previous 82-75 loss to Grand Canyon University. The team will face Tarleton State University at 7 p.m. Saturday at College Park Center. Students can bring Mav IDs to Gate 3 for free admission, though they will still need to claim tickets online prior. Guests can purchase tickets starting at $5 online. The game will be available to stream on ESPNU and live game audio will be available on utamavs.com. Women’s tennis The women’s tennis team begins the week with a match at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the University of North Texas. The team will then travel to Wichita, Kansas, for two games, starting with a 10 a.m. Friday match against the University of Memphis. It will round out the week against Wichita State University at 1 p.m. Saturday. Men’s tennis The men’s tennis team heads to 61st annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas. Hosted by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the matches will take place Friday and Saturday. Times are yet to be determined. Women’s basketball The Lady Mavericks will be on the road against TSU at 2 p.m. Saturday. The game will be livestreamed on ESPN+. Baseball The baseball team has four games this week. The matchup originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Globe Life Field against University of Oklahoma has been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather. A rescheduled date will be announced later. The team will travel for a three-game road series against Oklahoma State University this weekend. UTA opens the series against OSU at 4 p.m. Friday at O’Brate Stadium. UTA will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Sunday’s games will be livestreamed on ESPN+. Softball The softball team will host the sixth annual Boerner Invitational this week beginning Thursday against UNT at 1 p.m. and the University of the Incarnate Word at 3:30 p.m. The team will then play a doubleheader against Northwestern State University at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday. To conclude, the Mavericks will face Yale University at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. All games will be played at Allan Saxe Field. Movin’ Mavs The Movin’ Mavs will host their last home tournament of the season this weekend. The team’s opening game against the Rancho Halos at 10:45 a.m. in the Physical Education Building is the first of three games scheduled for Saturday. They will face the Los Angeles Hotwheels at 3:15 p.m. at the Maverick Activities Center, and end the day returning to the PEB against San Antonio at 5 p.m. The tournament will wrap up at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the PEB. Times and information can be found on the team’s Instagram page. Lady Movin’ Mavs The Lady Movin’ Mavs will compete in the University of Alabama Online Invitational at 6 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Stran-Hardin Arena in Alabama. @kaleivie_ sports-editor.shorthorn@uta.edu

Men’s basketball

The baseball team has four games this week.
