Wellness Walks
Tuesday, October 21, 2025 1:00–1:30 PM
- LocationStarting in the UC Mall, In front of Ransom Hall
- DescriptionOctober is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Prevention is not only about recognizing warning signs. It is also about strengthening protective factors that help keep our community safe and thriving.
Wellness Walks are more than just a chance to get some fresh air. They connect directly to the Relationship Violence & Sexual Assault Prevention program’s mission of fostering a safer, more supportive campus. The CDC reminds us that protective factors help reduce the risk of violence by strengthening the wellbeing of individuals and communities. https://www.cdc.gov/sexual-violence/risk-factors/index.html
Through Wellness Walks, we focus on three key protective factors:
Emotional Health and Connectedness: Taking a break to walk together can ease stress, boost mood, and remind us that we are part of a caring community.Academic Achievement: Making time for self-care helps us recharge, which supports balance, focus, and success inside and outside the classroom.Empathy and Concern for Others: Sharing this space encourages us to slow down, connect, and recognize how our actions and care for one another shape a safer campus.
When we walk together, we build the kind of supportive environment that helps prevent violence and allows everyone to thrive. Join us every Tuesday in October from 1–1:30 p.m. at the UC Mall outside Ransom Hall. All students, faculty, and staff are invited! - Websitehttps://events.uta.edu/event/wellness-walks
