Presentation Description: There has been a lot of talk about processed oils lately in the news. Are they good for you? Do they cause heart disease, cancer, inflammation, etc. With so many “health gurus” and “politicians” talking about it, there has been a lot of confusion on what you should and shouldn’t be worried about when it comes to oils. Join a discussion about the science behind processed oils and what you should be aware of.The presenter, Stacie Ellis, PhD, RDN, LD, is the Registered Dietitian at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she provides nutrition consultations and education for the students and staff on campus. Stacie is the proud owner of EXCELLIS Nutrition, a company geared towards performance nutrition, weight management, disordered eating, and medical nutrition therapy. Stacie serves as a consulting dietitian for Wellness Concepts, Health Fairs Direct, and American Health Assessments. She recently received her doctoral degree in nutrition with a minor in Kinesiology at Texas Women's University. Her dissertation involved comparing a high-carbohydrate, low-fat diet to a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet on performance in dancers. She has been interviewed with Women’s Health Magazine, The Oak Cliff Documentary, and Texas Metro News, and she also completed the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management Program on June 4-6, 2015.

The Pilates Method is a full-body conditioning program that develops deep abdominal and back strength, together with increased flexibiity and ease of movement. This class is aimed at "core stability," designed to work on lengthening muscles to help tone and strengthen muscles, using breathing to enhance relaxation.
