Denim Day

- DescriptionDenim Day is a powerful global movement that originated in response to a 1998 Italian court ruling where a rape conviction was overturned because the victim was wearing tight jeans, implying she must have helped her attacker remove them. This sparked widespread outrage and led to Denim Day, a day dedicated to challenging victim-blaming and raising awareness about sexual violence.
By wearing denim on Denim Day, people across the world stand in solidarity with survivors, reject harmful stereotypes, and advocate for the end of sexual assault. The act of wearing jeans is a visible and symbolic gesture of support for survivors and a commitment to creating a culture where consent is respected and survivors are believed.
Everyone at UTA is encouraged to join a group photo in the center of the UC Mall at 1:15 p.m. You can also sign the Denim Day pledge through the attached link to affirm your commitment to raising awareness and taking action. - Websitehttps://events.uta.edu/event/denim-day-8566
